Prep for Physical Therapy Assistant Program

Program Overview

Prep for Physical Therapy Assistant is a 16-week program designed to prepare you for the Physical Therapy Assistant diploma. Courses include one of the three prerequisites required for the Physical Therapy Assistant program (English Language Arts 30-1/020-1 or English Language Arts 30-2/030-2; Biology 30/030; Applied Math 10 or Pure Math 10); Interpersonal Communications for Health-Care Professions; and related employability skills. You will complete the prerequisite upgrading courses as well as obtain advanced credit in the diploma program.

Career Potential

The career potential for physical therapy assistants is excellent. Physical Therapy Assistant program graduates can apply for jobs in rehabilitation hospitals, acute care hospitals, long-term care centres, private physical therapy clinics, and special care facilities.

Transferability

You will complete the prerequisite upgrading courses, as well as obtain advanced credit in the Physical Therapy Assistant diploma program.

Admission Requirements

Two of the following courses are required as prerequisites to enter the Prep for Physical Therapy Assistant program. Students must complete all three courses to enter the Physical Therapy Assistant program.

  • Minimum 50% in English Language Arts 30-1/030-1 or 70% in English Language Arts 30-2/030-2
  • Minimum 60% in Biology 30/030
  • Minimum 50% in Applied Math 10 or Pure Math 10
  • Clear criminal record check
  • Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) 8

Credential

After successfully completing this program, graduates will be awarded a NorQuest Prep for Physical Therapy Assistant certificate.
