Adult Literacy and Pre-high School,
Grades 1 to 9

Program Overview

The Adult Literacy program (ALP) will improve your reading, writing, numeracy, and communication skills through a variety of learning activities. You will also improve your knowledge and ability to use technology. This program enables learners to be more knowledgeable, skilled, and confident in future employment and further education. Essential skills include the following:

  • Reading
  • Math
  • Writing
  • Computer literacy
  • Document literacy
  • Communication

Adult Literacy (1-6) is offered at six levels. Your course placement is based on a detailed assessment. Levels 1 and 2 are offered only on a part-time basis.

Admission Requirements

  • Program interview with an advisor to clarify educational and vocational goals
  • Placement assessment to determine course level

Progression

Students must attain a pass grade to progress through the program.
