Aboriginal Programs and Services

NorQuest’s Aboriginal programs are designed to incorporate aspects of Aboriginal culture into program curriculum. You will receive a complete education that balances strong academic foundations with Aboriginal studies. Our Aboriginal-focused courses and programs include academic upgrading, as well as certificate and diploma programs in Health and Human Service Careers.

At NorQuest College, nearly 13 per cent of learners are Aboriginal. As a result, we have designed an extensive network of services tailored specifically to meet your needs. You will have access to a resident Elder as well as an Aboriginal Student Support Coordinator and Aboriginal Educational Counsellor for guidance, counselling, and support. An Aboriginal Student Council ensures a strong voice for the Aboriginal student body and a ceremonial room is available for formal ceremonies and socializing.

NorQuest’s Aboriginal programs and services give you opportunities to enhance your academic abilities and upgrade your education within the context of an Aboriginal cultural heritage and prepare you for employment or further learning.

Aboriginal Elder
NorQuest’s Aboriginal Elder provides cultural and spiritual guidance. The Elder is available to students for consultations and healing circles on a drop-in basis. Located at the Edmonton Downtown Campus, the Elder can be found in the Aboriginal ceremonial room.
