Program Overview
Ready, set, go! If you need more academic
upgrading at the high school level as well as skills training
preparation, this program is for you.
Skills and Employment Training (SET) is
an employment preparation program that can be tailored to
meet your individual needs through a combination of classroom
instruction and specialized skills training.
Your program will also include instruction
in computer applications, job safety skills, resume writing,
portfolio development, and work and/or volunteer experience
to improve your chances of future employment.
In the first term, students can choose from
the following four options:
- GED Prep
- Customer Service
- Health Care Aide Prep
- Customized Occupational Training
GED Prep students will continue on to Term
2 in a skills training program or work experience term. Customer
Service students will continue to customized occupational
training in the second term. Health Care Aide Prep students
will continue to the Health Care Aide program in the second
term.
Further adjustments in programming may
be made depending on your special needs, specific requirements,
or individual circumstances.
Career Potential
Over the last five years, more than 80%
of graduates have had job offers in their chosen occupations.
Transferability
Students who successfully complete the
first semester of the SET program can apply to the Health
Care Aide program, Print
Media Production program, or Facility
Services and Management program. Students who pass the
GED may apply to the Digital
Graphics Communications program.
Admission Requirements
- Grade 8 English and math
- Admission interview
Progression
Students must attain a pass grade in each
course to progress through the program. To qualify for graduation,
students must pass all courses.
Credential
After successfully completing this program,
graduates will be awarded a NorQuest Skills and Employment
Training certificate.

Funding Your Education
Students in this program may be eligible
for Alberta government funding including costs for tuition,
books, and living expenses.
