Centre for Excellence in Print Media named one of decade’s top 101 events that shaped Canadian printing
PrintAction Magazine recognizes NorQuest for its vital impact on Western Canadian printers
EDMONTON – PrintAction Magazine, one of Canada’s top graphics communications publications, has named the Centre for Excellence in Print Media at NorQuest College among its picks of the top 101 events that helped shape Canadian printing since the start of the century.
“Being recognized at the national level highlights the printing and graphic communication industry’s need for an academic and training resource in Western Canada,” explains Josh Ramsbottom, coordinator, Centre for Excellence in Print Media.
“The Centre for Excellence in Print Media offers Western printers a cutting-edge resource to better understand the future,” said Jon Robinson, editor, PrintAction Magazine. "The Centre is also vital for the industry to attract and educate a younger generation about the future role of printing--a generation already acutely aware of emerging forms of communications.”
“The Centre is one-of-a-kind in Western Canada where industry employers can access the technological training and education necessary to improve their business,” said Ramsbottom. “Another major benefit is that NorQuest’s print media graduates are workforce ready, equipped with leading-edge skills relevant to the needs of industry employers.”
The Centre enables print companies in Western Canada to become more profitable, improve current print production standards and meet business needs efficiently by offering insight on new technology and innovations. NorQuest College also works to support printing companies by developing focused training opportunities for existing staff and new employees.
The Centre opened its doors in September 2008 after receiving a federal government investment of more than $1.4 million from Western Economic Diversification to support innovation and development in Western Canada’s print industry.
