Project – Inclusive Student Engagement
The Inclusive Student Engagement project is exploring through an applied research project the question, “In what ways might Student Services staff enhance their interactions with diverse students to foster inclusivity?” The NorQuest Centre for Excellent in Intercultural Education (Team 1) is exploring the following questions, “In what ways might Student Services enhance intercultural communication skills during face-to-face interactions with students?” How do NorQuest students and staff perceive current student service interactions at NorQuest? How can IDI guided training and coaching interventions be used to create inclusive student engagement interactions at NorQuest College? [IDI is the Intercultural Development Inventory survey designed by Dr. Mitch Hammer that is based on the Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity (DMIS) developed by Dr. Milton Bennett). Team 1 will work with Student Services departments to identify good inclusive practices, and to conduct training and coaching.
