It
is very important that you apply for funding early to avoid
financial hardship. To learn more, follow the links on the
left. Current or recent recipients of Employment Insurance
may be eligible for special funding.
Even if you have been accepted to a course
or program, you must have your fees paid or a written guarantee
of funding before you can begin. Payment arrangements must
be made on or before the first day of the term or your registration
will be cancelled.

out whether you qualify for a student loan or student line
of credit.
Sources of Funding for Aboriginal Students
Aboriginal Students who are eligible may
seek funding through the First Nations Resources Centre or
by contacting their Band Education Counsellor. Other Aboriginal
agencies, corporations, and individual bands have educational
funds available to Aboriginal students. For more information,

The College administers various scholarship
funds and awards. For more information,

Alberta Student Finance Funding
Sponsorship
Federal and provincial governments may
provide financial assistance to adults enrolled at the College.
To find out whether you are eligible for funding, contact
a NorQuest College Student Advisor at (780) 644-6130 or an
Alberta Career Development Counsellor at (780) 427-2740 or
1-800-222-6485 (throughout Alberta).
Alberta Student Finance
The two programs available are:
- Skills Development Grants, available
to qualified students in Academic Upgrading and Employment
Preparation programs, English as a Second Language programs,
and some eligible career programs.
- Student loans, available to qualified
students in Career and Skills programs
If you are a Support for Independence (S.F.I.)
recipient with Alberta Family and Social Services and you
qualify for Academic Upgrading or Employment Programs, contact
your social worker to access the Skills Development Grant
program.

Student Loans
If you need financial assistance, apply
to the Student Finance Board as early as possible. It can
take six to eight weeks for the loan to be processed. Application
forms are available at the Student Finance Board or at the
NorQuest College Information Centre (Room 125).
If you need help filling out the student
loan forms, please make an appointment with one of our Student
Advisors by calling (780) 644-6130.
To have your loan processed, make an appointment
to see a Student Aid Officer by calling the Registrar's
Office at (780) 644-66130. Distance students can make a telephone
appointment with a Student Aid and Awards Officer by calling
(780) 644-6130.

Part-Time Program Funding
You may be eligible for funding if you
are attending NorQuest College's Continuing Education
courses or part-time programs.

Funding for Students with Disabilities
Canada Study Grants for Students with Permanent Disabilities
Canada Study Grants provides support to
post-secondary students with disabilities. A maximum of $8,000
per academic year is available for full-time students (minimum
40% course load) for exceptional expenses resulting from the
disability, such as tutors, specialized transportation, or
equipment.
Grants are also available to 'high needs
students with permanent disabilities.' Full-time students
may qualify for up to $2,000 per year. Part-time students
(minimum 20% course load) may receive up to $1,200 per year.
Students must include Schedule 4 which
is the form necessary to apply for this grant when they complete
an application for financial assistance.

Disability Related Employment Support Program (DRESP) (Formerly Vocational Rehabilitation of Disabled Person Program [VRDP])
This program provides financial assistance
to cover the costs of disability related needs for individual
students.

DRES counsellors come to NorQuest on a
regular basis to meet with new applicants. Approval and assessment
of appropriate services usually requires from 10 to 12 weeks.
Requests for specialized equipment may take longer. Students
must apply for separate funding to cover tuition and the cost
of books.
All new applicants who require support
are expected to follow through with their DRES application
or their registration may be deferred.
